To celebrate the unique and important contributions university presses make to the publishing landscape, we decided to come up with our own reading challenge!
Introducing Read Smarter, a reading challenge for 2020 designed to expand your reading horizons beyond mainstream publishing. Each of the twelve prompts (one for each month) focuses around a broad subject area that you may not have explored. Over the next year, we and other university presses will be providing reading suggestions from our collections.
Upon completing the challenge in December, you can email your checklist to receive a 30% discount on orders at participating university presses!
Share your reading adventures with us on social media using the hashtag #ReadSmarter.
Download the checklist and find out more info here.
Our first prompt for Read Smarter is “Read a book of regional fiction.” We’re defining “regional fiction” as any work of fiction focused on a specific region. You could choose a book set in your region, or a region halfway across the world, as long as it’s published by a university press. Have a look at some suggestions from participating presses here.
The Read Smarter challenge is a collaboration between University of Pittsburgh Press, Manchester University Press, MIT Press, Northwestern University Press, Syracuse University Press, University of Virginia Press, and Princeton University Press.
