Author guidelines:
You are writing for the general reader, so please avoid jargon, theory and academic language.
BPA series books are 50,000 – 70,000 words long.
Your book structure should be something like this:
- Introduction: set the scene, give a vignette of your own encounter with this material or your subject. Give a sense of why this book is interesting now, what’s new here, what you’re uncovering that should be better known. This should be no fewer than 3,000 words and no more than 6,000 words
- Main chapters: keep them balanced in length. Make sure it’s clear what each chapter is covering so the reader is on a journey through the book that makes sense
- Concluding chapter: where does this leave us? What did you learn along the way? What do we still not know?
You will need to use footnotes where you quote the work of other authors. We can provide full instructions on how to reference if needed.
