Marketing your book

These are the activities we will undertake to promote your book,

Co-ordinate reviews

We will use our database of nearly 600 contacts to target a curated list of journal editors and reviewers with information about your book, offering a free review copy. 

Events

We actively encourage our authors to organise online events – not only do they help to raise awareness of your title, but they can increase sales too. Find out more about organising an event in our Events policy, attached to this email.

Social media

An image of your book, a brief description and a link to the books MUP webpage will be posted on our TwitterInstagram and Facebook pages.

Online marketing

We will share any additional content, such as a blog post and author video on our social media networks. See below for more information.

Conference displays

We participate in many academic hybrid conferences throughout the year, where our books are available for purchase at a discount. Flyers or catalogues can be sent to relevant conferences that we are unable to attend. Visit our website for a full list of events and conferences we’ll be attending this year.

Digital version

The digital version of your book will be available via our platform,www.manchesterhive.com, and marketed to the relevant audience, whether that be institutional libraries or individual purchasers. It will also be included in one of our subject specific ebook collections if relevant and will be distributed to the appropriate library or retail ebook distributors to ensure maximum exposure.

Tips for promoting your book

There are many quick and effective thing’s you can do to promote your own book.  If you have less than an hour, focus on utilising your networks. 

·         Download a flyer from your book’s MUP webpage and share it with your colleagues and friends.

·         Use an email signature with links to the book’s MUP webpage.

·         Post your book on social media.

·         Inform the PR Department at your institution that your book is now available. They should be able to promote it through their publicity channels for you.

If you have more than an hour, you could…

·         Write a blog for the MUP website – read some recent blog posts

·         Create a short author video that MUP will share on its social media channels and YouTube – find out how to create your video
